Perceptions about Arab culture in Foz do Iguaçu registered on TripAdvisor and the image formation of the destination
The image of a destination is formed by a combination between what local managers and the experiences lived by visitors during the trip, based on their references. Being one of BrazilÂŽs main tourist destinations, the city of Foz do Iguaçu has the second largest Arab community in Brazil. This fact has led us to study how this presence is perceived by visitors, and how it influences the image of that destination. To this end., comenta fórum online portal TripAdvisor in between the years 2017 and 2018 which were related to this subject have been collected and analyzed. A total of 1,629 evaluations indicate that the visitors had perceived material and immaterial cultural signs of Arab culture, mostly during visits to the Omar Ibn Al-Khatab Mosque, and as well as going to different gastronomic establishments in Foz do Iguaçu. Arab culture is generally recognized as different and âEURoeinterestingâEUR. Recognition of the âEURoeotherâEUR can be noticed in comments about architecture, gastronomy, clothing (material signs); and religion, habbits and traditions (imaterial signs). Therefore, the presence of Arab culture influences how the image of Foz do Iguaçu is formed as a cultural destination as well.
