This article proposes reflections on humanitarian missions, understanding them as fruitful spaces for the development of scientific research. Taking as a reference Operation Acolhida, a humanitarian response proposed by the Federal Government under the management of the Brazilian Army aimed at supporting Venezuelan migrants, we argue that systematic registration, monitoring and analysis actions developed under the motto of scientific research can not only contribute to the improvement of action provided for the population served but enabling the production of scientific knowledge. The propositions included in this production are based on qualitative research carried out in the second half of 2021, which used field research and non-participant observation with professionals and beneficiaries of Operation Acolhida, using the data contained in the diary as recording instruments. fieldwork and unsystematic interviews. The investigation showed that a wide range of information and knowledge converged towards the execution of the mission, however, they focused largely on empirical experience, with no dialogue between knowledge and academic-scientific products developed by civil and educational institutions. military.
