Technological development is a determining factor in the progress of humanity, but it also has the capacity to bring risks, damages, and serious problems, especially in the humanitarian dimension. The objective of the article is to analyze the relationship between the use of weapons and military equipment with artificial intelligence and the humanitarian issues arising from it, and to think about possible treatments within the scope of international law. The method used was a bibliographic review based on theory on the subject. The main objective is to assess the humanitarian consequences arising from the military use of artificial intelligence and the possible solutions provided by international law. It is concluded that the development and use of new technologies, especially cybernetics and artificial intelligence, is an irreversible path, but considering the multiple humanitarian effects that may be produced by such equipment, given the absence of international standards that prohibit the use of weapons equipped with artificial intelligence, there is no other way than to use the current norms of international humanitarian law.
